In today's society, education is often regarded as a transformative tool that can open doors and create opportunities for individuals from all walks of life. However, for incarcerated adults, access to education can be limited. This is where the New Directions Education Project has stepped in.

The New Directions Education Project is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to empowering incarcerated adults by providing them with the opportunity to pursue college classes.
Our foundation: New Direction Education Project was created after Pell grants were no longer available to adults who were incarcerated subsequent to 1993. A group of educators thought AICs deserved more educational opportunities. NDEP was formed as a non-profit and a board of directors was empowered to oversee operations. Over the last 24 years NDEP has offered over 89 different College level classes with more than 1,185 students participating and has produced 10 AAOT graduates. We currently have 24 students in the program. Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution (EOCI) is now being served by Treasure Valley Community College (TVCC) from Ontario, Oregon. The program is stronger than ever and is making a difference in the lives of incarcerated adults through education.
A brighter future: the New Directions Education Project is making a significant impact in the lives of incarcerated adults by providing them with access to educational opportunities. Through this website, the organization hopes to effectively communicate our mission, showcase success stories, and provide valuable resources for supporters, and to share with family and friends of students. We believe by empowering individuals through education, the New Directions Education Project is truly making a difference in the world. Please contact us to see how you may be able to also support this endeavor.
